Joseph Vassallo - Actor, Writer, Producer
Joseph Vassallo discovered his love for acting at 13 during a visit to his father on the set of Midnight Express. Captivated by the world of film, he enrolled at the esteemed Teatro Manoel in Malta, launching a notable career in entertainment.
Following college, Joseph traveled extensively across Europe, living in Switzerland, Paris, London, New York, and Los Angeles. He also worked aboard the luxury QE2 as a Chef De Rang, gaining rich cultural insights. Fluent in English, Italian, Maltese, and conversational in Swiss German and Spanish, he brings a diverse international perspective to his work.
In the 1980s, he moved to New York City to study acting and theater before settling in Los Angeles in 1987. There, he refined his craft at the Stella Adler Academy and Joanne Baron/D.W. Brown Studio, and was later accepted as an observer at The Actors Studio West under the mentorship of the legendary Shelley Winters. His stage career includes performances in eleven plays.
Joseph’s screen career began in the early 1990s with a Royal Caribbean commercial, eventually appearing in over 100 national TV commercials. His Twix campaign won the Gold Award at the New York Film Festival, and he starred in a six-year campaign for Romano Macaroni Grill. He has acted alongside Hollywood stars in films such as Blankman (with Damon Wayans), The 4th Tenor (with Rodney Dangerfield), Just Married (with Ashton Kutcher and Brittany Murphy), and Our Family Wedding (opposite Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker). His television guest appearances include acclaimed series like The West Wing, Alias, Diagnosis Murder, and he held a recurring role on My Wife and Kids.
In the early 1990s, Vassallo also worked as Executive Personal Assistant to a Hollywood A-lister. Behind the scenes, he made significant contributions as a writer on ABC’s My Wife and Kids and later as Vice President of Way Out TV, collaborating with Damon Wayans on multiple projects where he served as writer, producer, and director. He earned a film degree in Los Angeles and expanded into technology as COO of AKABE5, a curator of game and utility apps.
In 2017, Joseph portrayed Enzo Ferrari at Ferrari Land in Barcelona, Spain, bringing to life the legendary race car pioneer. In 2025, he will appear in a recurring guest role as Antonio Russo in the Netflix miniseries From Scratch, opposite award-winning Zoe Saldana, and as Saro Vitelli in the hit Paramount Plus series The Offer, starring alongside Miles Teller. Meanwhile, he is actively developing a slate of feature films and television projects of his own.
