Arif Onur Saylak (born May 12, 1977, in Ankara) is a Turkish actor and director, as well as a film and drama lecturer at Kadir Has University.
Born in Ankara, he initially studied physics at Middle East Technical University but later transferred to Ankara University’s Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Public Administration, a completely different discipline.
During his time there, he joined the university’s theater club (Communication Faculty Theater Group) and participated in amateur plays. This experience led him to pursue acting seriously, and he was accepted into Bilkent University’s Theater Department, where he devoted himself fully to acting. While at Bilkent, he performed in several productions, including "Getto" and "Üç Kuruşluk Opera/Die Dreigroschenoper" at Ankara State Theatre, as well as Nazim Hikmet's "Herşeye Rağmen" at Bilkent Theatre.
He portrayed the character "Çetin" in the TV series "Hisarbuselik" and gained wider recognition through the "Kod Adı" series. Additionally, he worked as a theater director at TED College. Due to his singing talent, he participated in the university choir and developed an interest in musical theater, performing in productions like "Biedermann and the Arsonists." He also wrote lyrics for some plays. In 2003, he hosted a 13-episode youth program titled "Hadi Gidelim" on TRT 2.
Saylak made his cinematic debut with the feature film "Sonbahar/Autumn," which premiered on June 6, 2008, at the 15th Altın Koza Film Festival, where it won the Best Film Award. He later appeared in "Güz Sancısı" and starred in the 2009 film "Denizden Gelen," directed by Nesli Çölgeçen, which received the Yılmaz Güney Special Award.
On July 28, 2011, he married fellow actress Tuba Büyüküstün in Paris, France.
He established the company B.i.t arts and ventured further into the film industry. His wife, Tuba Büyüküstün, made her first short film appearance in "Orman."
In 2023, Saylak will return to the big screen with the movie "Boğa Boğa," collaborating once again with Hakan Günday, as he did in his previous film "MORE.
