Dwayne Boyd is a Producer, Director, Actor, and instructor at Premier Actors' Network (PAN), which he founded in 2003. As an actor, Boyd is committed to delivering his authentic self in every performance, captivating audiences and showcasing the promise of this emerging talent. Raised in Kansas City, Missouri, he discovered his passion for acting early on. After high school, he served seven years in the United States Army. Shortly after his military service, he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to pursue his acting career.
Boyd initially refined his craft in Atlanta-area theater productions such as To Kill A Mockingbird and A Man's World. He later established Premier Actors' Network, offering weekly acting classes in Decatur, Georgia, to help aspiring actors enhance their skills. With over 110 students enrolled, Boyd impressed actor, writer, and director Robert Townsend, who generously provided rehearsal space at the Black Family Channel's network offices to support Boyd’s expanding classes.
Beyond acting, Boyd writes, directs, and produces short films through his company, 34th and Askew Productions. His projects include Ruthless Company and Wanted: Video Girl. In 2004, he produced several episodes of Gory Stories, a children’s program on the Black Family Channel. To support his dreams, Boyd works part-time as a barber while pursuing his acting career.
Boyd gained recognition with a starring role as Oscar in the 2005 Screen Gems film The Gospel, alongside Boris Kodjoe, Idris Elba, and Omar Gooding. His television credits include appearances on NBC’s Surface; Lifetime’s Army Wives and Drop Dead Diva; Black Family Channel’s Playhouse 22; and Meet the Browns. He appears in the upcoming Disney film The Odd Life of Timothy Green, starring Jennifer Garner and Common, and the highly anticipated adaptation of The Hunger Games, featuring Jennifer Lawrence, Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz, and Donald Sutherland.
As a dedicated actor committed to growth, Boyd has positioned himself for further success in the film industry. His feature film, the romantic comedy 4 Minutes, which he wrote, produced, and directed, was selected for the prestigious American Black Film Festival (ABFF) in 2008, ranking among the top four out of 600 entries. It was also accepted into the International Black Film Festival (IBFF) in Nashville. Recently, he directed the SAG feature The Ivy League, set for release later this year, and is developing his third feature, The Legacy of Frank Wallace, which he will direct.
Boyd’s Premier Actors' Network continues to thrive, offering classes that cover on-camera work, monologues, improvisation, scene study, and character development to prepare actors for TV, film, commercials, and theater roles. Twice yearly, he organizes showcases where students perform before hundreds of family members, friends, and industry professionals, including agents, casting directors, and producers. His latest showcase was hailed as the best in metro Atlanta by prominent talent agents and casting directors, with 80% of participants securing agent representation afterward.
