Ron Clinton Smith is an American actor and writer from Atlanta, Georgia, born on March 19, 1951. His father, Harry Raymond Smith, was a Georgia Tech football player and P-51 fighter pilot during WWII and the Korean War; he passed away when Ron was fifteen. His mother, Theresa Vina Gooch, was a model and homemaker. Encouraged to sing early on, Ron studied voice in church and high school choirs, learned guitar, and played in bands during his teenage years. Following his father's passion for football, he played from age eight to twenty, including two years at Florida State University, where his interest shifted from football to writing and traveling. Later, he discovered unconventional stand-up comedy with friend and mentor Col. Bruce Hampton, which led him to theater, then television and film acting. Throughout, he continued writing songs, poems, stories, and screenplays. In 2012, he published the novel "Creature Storms," based on his own screenplay, a project he spent ten years developing. He now balances writing with film acting. In 1987, he married Kathryn Sue Marchant, an artist and accountant. They have two sons, Jeremiah Christian Smith and Sean Dillon Smith, both successful marketing entrepreneurs.
