Biografia
Film Composer, Sound Supervisor and Sound Designer at La Tina Sound Design and Film Scoring (La Tina Sonido), Bogotá - Colombia. Berklee College of Music graduate (MA Scoring For Film, TV and Videogames).
Manuel is the head composer at La Tina, began his career in the film industry as a sound designer and sound supervisor. After several years of experience, he pursued a Master's degree in Film Scoring at Berklee College of Music, where he gained hands-on experience recording with live musicians and orchestras at Abbey Road Studios and East Connection with the Budapest Art Orchestra. Since then, he has led the music department at La Tina, the company he co-founded in 2010.
Drawing from his background in sound post-production, he incorporates various film sound techniques into his compositional and production processes, including Foley recording, field recordings, and more. His passion for discovering and designing unique sounds has led him to create both virtual and physical instruments, while also exploring unconventional approaches to conventional instruments (or orchestra) - all to expand his sonic palette.
His compositions are deeply shaped by the sounds he creates, ranging from experimental electronica, minimalist ambient and electroacoustic textures to hardcore punk, industrial rock, and full classical/contemporary orchestral palettes. In recent years, he has scored Los Iniciados and Los Iniciados 2 (Amazon Originals thriller films), a dramedy series for ViX+, a Netflix thriller series produced by Fabula (Chile), a Netflix thriller series called "Estado de Fuga: 1986" produced by AG Studios, for which he won the India Catalina for Best Score, and was nominated on the same catogory at the Platino Awards 2026, and another Netflix series produced by Dynamo called Palacio.
For these projects, he built and created custom instruments like a Horror Box, a Prepared Cello, a Bowed Tiple, a Vietnamese Dan Bau, a Vocal Breath Beats, field recordings and metal doors, crafting unique sonic identities. His work spans platforms including Amazon Prime, Netflix, HBO, Paramount, ViX, and PBS, covering thriller, horror, drama, and documentary genres.
Manuel is also a co-founder of MuCine, the Colombian association of film music composers.
