Armin Nasseri is a Persian-American actor and filmmaker who grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He later relocated to Southern California to pursue his passion for storytelling. Armin attended Los Angeles City College and West Los Angeles College where he studied film production. While still a student, Armin directed Jump, a short thriller that was well received and screened at the Intercollegiate Film Festival, marking an early milestone in his filmmaking career. After completing his education, Armin immersed himself in every facet of film production, working across departments including art directing, set dressing, still photography, craft services, camera, sound, editing, producing, and directing. This hands-on experience shaped him into a versatile and deeply collaborative storyteller with a profound respect for both the craft and every role behind the scenes. Driven to challenge the narrow and often harmful narratives perpetuated by mainstream media, Armin founded Polar Underworld Productions. Through his award-winning short films Seeking Valentina and The Carting Call, Armin has championed bold, authentic storytelling that resonates across cultures and identities. Both films featured inclusive, gender-balanced casts and intentionally rejected stereotypes and tropes that have historically marginalized underrepresented voices. Armin made his documentary feature debut with George Hobbs: Stick Figure Wisdom, an intimate and layered portrait of multifaceted artist George Hobbs. The film has won multiple awards worldwide, establishing Armin as a compelling voice in documentary filmmaking. Inspired by the creative journey behind Stick Figure Wisdom, he continued his exploration of LA contemporary artists with Alicia Piller: Afterlife of Objects, the second installment in his ongoing artist-profile series. The film examines Piller’s large-scale sculptural works, which weave together themes of history, identity and social commentary. Alicia Piller: Afterlife of Objects is now complete, offering an immersive look at the artist’s visionary practice.
