Jeff Kober was born in Billings, Montana, on December 18, 1953. Unsatisfied with ranching, he moved to the Los Angeles area in his twenties to pursue acting. His first television appearance was an uncredited role in the 1984 series V. Kober later took on supporting roles in the acclaimed Vietnam War drama China Beach (1988) and the cult horror series Kindred: The Embraced (1996). Since then, he has guest-starred on popular TV shows such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999), CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2000), ER (1994), 24 (2001), The Closer (2005), and Criminal Minds (2005).
Kober’s film career began with Out of Bounds (1986), where he portrayed Roy Gaddis, a small-time drug dealer with murderous tendencies—one of his signature villainous roles. This led to parts in films like The First Power (1990), Tank Girl (1995) (showcasing a comedic side), Defining Maggie (2002), World Without Waves (2004), and the 2007 remake of The Hills Have Eyes 2. Embracing diverse opportunities, he has appeared in several independent shorts, including the Academy Award-winning Session Man (1991) and the award-winning Lucid (2006). On stage, he has performed extensively, notably as “the father” in Jenny Sullivan’s autobiographical play J For J and in Defying Gravity. Kober is also an accomplished artist, creating paintings attributed to his character Daedalus on Kindred: The Embraced (1996), and co-authoring Art That Pays: The Emerging Artist's Guide to Making a Living with Adele Slaughter. Personally, Kober has been divorced twice (from Rhonda Talbot and Kelly Cutrone) and has one son. He recently completed work on The Hills Have Eyes 2 (2007), playing Colonel Lincoln Redding, with the film scheduled for release in March 2007. His subsequent film was Multiple (2008).
