Steve, an Oxnard College Regional Fire Academy graduate (1998-99), transitioned into a Firefighter/EMT/Extrication Specialist role for a private Los Angeles County Fire Service (1999-2001). He subsequently volunteered as a First-Responder & Emergency Rescue Team Member in his community. Presently, Steve serves as the On-Set Medic for the Motion Picture & Television Industry. Having worked in the industry and read numerous scripts, Steve decided to create his own. His inaugural script, No Place I'd Rather Be, is a faith-based, family-friendly production that encompasses action, adventure, comedy, drama, romance, and a touch of western flair. This film promises to be an entertaining experience for families for years to come. Notably, it was nominated for the Best First Time Screenplay Award in 2021. Steve then developed a 1970's period television series based on his upbringing, drawing comparisons to The Wonder Years meets The Brady Bunch and Stand By Me. The series, The Paperboy Chronicles, has garnered four Best Television Series Script awards (2022-23), in addition to being a Finalist for the Best TV Script award, and securing a Best Short Script award, Best Writer Award, and Best For Family's Script. Another script from the first season (The Boys of Summer) took first place at Content Film Festival in 2023. Additionally, another script (Dance the Night Away) was nominated for Best Television Script in 2024. In the summer of 2024, Steve successfully crowd-funded and filmed a 13-minute short, proof-of-concept film to present to studios and producers (additional information available at crimson crown.com). Apart from his accomplishments in the film industry, Steve is an accomplished bass guitarist and background harmony vocalist, having performed in several bands. He showcased for Geffen Records with the Ventura, California rock 'n' roll band, Checkmate. Steve has consistently demonstrated his creative writing and cartooning abilities, penning movie scripts, newspaper articles, and releasing his first book; he paid tribute to his late mother-in-law, Abigail Sermeno, in "Mrs. Gail and the Good News Club" in the fall of 2023. He has recorded in the studio several times, written a stage play, and composed lyrics for original songs.
