Guy is internationally recognized for his role as Lieutenant Gruber, a beloved character featured in over 90 episodes of 'Allo 'Allo!, one of the BBC's most successful comedy series, still broadcast in more than 80 countries.
Born in Manhattan to an American father and an English mother, Guy was educated in England and trained at the Webber Douglas Academy in London, where he received the Rodney Millington Award for his portrayal of The Emcee in Cabaret. Over a 50-year career, he has become a well-known figure in UK theatre and television. Recently, he has spent significant time working in the Los Angeles film industry but is now based in London, balancing careers as both actor and writer/producer. Together with producing partner David Mansell, he operates Einstein Films, with several projects in development.
His London stage debut was in the acclaimed Cowardy Custard at the Mermaid Theatre. Other London performances include Off the Peg, Nickleby and Me, Toad of Toad Hall, The Frogs, Wealth, The Biograph Girl, and Don't Dress for Dinner. He has also performed multiple times in cabaret at The Ritz. Guy has worked with leading English repertory companies such as Coventry, Leicester, Brighton, Windsor, Oxford, and The Bristol Old Vic. He undertook six major tours with Jonathan Lynn's Cambridge Theatre Company, performing classic works including The Master Builder, The Relapse, An Inspector Calls, and Uncle Vanya. He toured Australia twice with the 'Allo 'Allo stage production, which also had record-breaking UK tours and extended West End runs at the Prince of Wales and London Palladium theatres.
His television work in London includes I Claudius, Dr. Who, Life at Stake, Z Cars, Softly Softly, The Secret Army, You Rang M'Lord?, The Brittas Empire, Doctors, and, notably, 'Allo 'Allo! In Los Angeles, his credits include Seinfeld, Martial Law, Diagnosis Murder (with Dick van Dyke), Zoe, Babylon 5, When Billie Beat Bobbie (with Holly Hunter and Goldie Hawn), That's My Bush (written by the creators of South Park), The Agency, and Star Trek: Enterprise.
Guy’s extensive experience and industry connections span all facets of filmmaking. His film credits include The Disappearance of Kevin Johnson, Great Harry and Jane, Lost Highway (written and directed by David Lynch), Leprechaun 4, Bug, Return to the Secret Garden, The Second Front (featuring Todd Field), Megiddo (with Michael York), Vlad (starring Billy Zane), Provoked, The Loss Adjuster (with Luke Goss), and Pirates of the Caribbean (with Johnny Depp).
