Sofia Reis is an acclaimed actress from Lisbon, Portugal, recognized with multiple awards and nominations. Her passion for acting began in childhood. She made her film debut in the 1994 Italian movie "Sostiene Pereira," filmed in Lisbon and featuring Marcello Mastroianni, with a soundtrack by the celebrated composer Ennio Morricone. This role ignited her determination to pursue acting professionally. In 1997, she enrolled at IAE - Institute of Performing Arts, Portugal's only private acting school, while taking on minor film and television roles. Since 2000, she has attended various workshops at the prestigious Portuguese ACT School of Actors. In 2010, she graduated in Meisner Technique from the John Frey Studio for Actors, under the guidance of American actor and writer John Frey. That same year, Sofia received the Augusta Award for Best Actress at the 8th Bragacine - International Festival of Independent Cinema in Braga, Portugal, which greatly encouraged her career ambitions. In 2012, she was nominated for Best Actress in a short film for the thriller "Faminto" at the CinEuphoria Awards. The following year, she earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for the feature film "Além de Ti" at the CinEuphoria Awards 2013. In 2015, she received another Best Actress nomination for the short film "Anjo Negro" at the CinEuphoria Awards and subsequently won Best Actress for the same film, also known as "Dark Angel," at The Zone International Film Festival in Houston, USA. Sofia works across television, film, and theater, and since 2017, she has been represented in Portugal by the talent agency CAST39 (Eric Santos). She is fluent in English, French, and Portuguese and is a member of the Portuguese Film Academy.
