Christian Tappan is a Mexican-Colombian actor, born in Mexico to a Mexican father, Alfredo Tappan, and a Colombian mother. From an early age, he studied first at Televisa's Child School and later in Colombia, receiving full support from his father, director, producer, and cinematographer Alfredo Tappan. His first television appearance was on the show "Imagínate" alongside María Angélica Mallarino. They later released an LP titled "Soñando Canciones."
With a career spanning over 38 years in television, film, and theater across Mexico and Latin America, Christian Tappan has earned significant recognition as many of the productions he has been part of have been viewed worldwide. Some of his recent projects include Snowfall (2017) Season 3, La Reina del Sur (2011), Wild District (2018), Mary Magdalene (2018), Paraíso Travel (2018), La Fiscal de Hierro (2017), La boda de Valentina (2018), La Hermandad (2016), Cuando vivas conmigo (2017), Narcos (2015), in which he portrayed Kiko Moncada alongside Wagner Moura, La Esquina Del Diablo (2015), and Fugitivos (2014), where he played Steve Houston, a bipolar DEA detective who torments the protagonist—a role that earned him a nomination for "Favorite Villain" at the 2015 TV y Novelas Awards.
Other notable roles include Bernardo Burgos in La Suegra (2014), a manipulative and weak-willed man, which garnered him a nomination for Best Leading Actor at the TV y Novelas Awards. He also appeared in one of Colombia's most internationally successful productions, Pablo Escobar: El Patrón del Mal (2012), portraying Gonzalo Gaviria, Pablo Escobar's cousin and partner. His role as Roberto Aristizábal in La Promesa (2013) stands out as one of the most impactful in his career due to its heavy dramatic content, portraying an alcoholic father of one of the girls trafficked to Spain as a prostitute.
His film work includes "Before the Fire" by Laberinto Films, "Blunt Force Trauma" with 64 A Films, as well as Que viva la música (2015) and La semilla del silencio (2015), the latter two having been showcased at Sundance 2015, the Guadalajara Festival 2015, and Ficci 2015 in Cartagena, further enriching his professional experience.
Christian Tappan has won two India Catalina awards for Best Supporting Actor for his performances in Pablo Escobar: El Patrón del Mal (2012) and La Promesa (2013).
