Garima Pura has co-written the Academy Award winning documentary 'The Elephant Whisperers' and Netflix's slice of life fiction drama 'Little Things'. She is the creator and writer of Amber Girls School, the Amazon Studios show. She wrote dialogues for the Amit-Trivedi musical - Khalbali Records on Hotstar. Straddling both fiction & nonfiction storytelling - she's written, directed & produced human-interest documentaries for developmental organisations such as British Asian Trust, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Gates Foundation. She wrote, directed and produced a 10-part mini documentary series about art, wildlife, textile and spiritual practices in Bodoland for Outlook Traveller. Her literary works feature in The Wire, Outlook India, Film Companion, The Tribune among others.
Garima Pura is a fiction and nonfiction writer whose work spans feature films, television, documentary, and essay writing. She is a writer on Netflix's slice-of-life fiction drama Little Things and contributed to the story development of the Academy Award winning documentary The Elephant Whisperers. Over the last decade she has developed shows and films for Netflix, Amazon Studios, and Hotstar as a story, screenplay, and dialogue writer.
Straddling fiction and nonfiction, she has written, directed, and produced human-interest documentaries for organisations including the British Asian Trust, USAID, and the Gates Foundation. She wrote, directed, and produced a 10-part documentary series on art, wildlife, textile, and spiritual practices in Bodoland for Outlook Traveller.
Her writing, ranging from political satire to poetry and film essays, has appeared in The Wire, Film Companion, The Tribune, Outlook India, and others. She is drawn to flawed people, power dynamics, and the way personal narratives unfold in response to socio-cultural and geo-political forces.
She is currently completing post production of her short fiction narrative and developing her debut feature 'Nose Bone', which was shortlisted for Berlin AIR 2024.
