Biografia
Clara Lago was born on March 6, 1990, in a suburb of Madrid, Spain's capital. Her father was a graphic designer, and her mother was a writer and storyteller, passing down a passion for creative professions to Clara. A friend of her father, a television producer, encouraged her to try acting. Being very young, she approached it as an interesting game. She auditioned easily, communicating freely with the casting team and TV station staff, and quickly passed.
Clara's acting career began at age 8 when she appeared in the TV series Partners, which aired in 1998. Two years later, she starred in the TV series Hospital Central (2000) and was dubbed by another actress in the TV movie Terca vida (2000).
Her film debut came in 2002 at age 12, with a leading role in El viaje de Carol, directed by Spanish filmmaker Imanol Uribe. For this performance, Clara won the Goya Award for Best Actress. She then had cameo roles in La vida que te espera (2004), Arena en los bolsillos (2006), El club de los suicidas (2007), and The Hanged Man (2008). During this period, she also appeared in two popular Spanish TV series, Clara Lago and the crime-drama Lex (2008).
Clara's breakthrough came with the 2011 psychological thriller The Hidden Face, where she played the lead female role of Belem, a womanizer's girlfriend who takes matters into her own hands. Following this, she starred as Ginevra in the sequel to the acclaimed melodrama [link=tt1797504]. The film received a Goya nomination, and Clara earned critical acclaim. Notably, she also contributed as a singer to the soundtrack, performing two songs: "La Cama" and "Aunque tú no lo sepas."
In 2012, she starred in the psychological drama The End, playing Eve, one of the last survivors on Earth, destined to witness the disappearance of her friends and family. The film enjoyed commercial success.
Clara's most recent work is the family comedy Spanish Affair (2014), which grossed $77 million, breaking box office records for Spanish films. She portrayed Amaya, a young woman from the Basque Country.
Outside of acting, Clara enjoys dancing and regularly attends dance classes, with a special interest in Pilates. She is also a brand ambassador for companies like Hoss Intropia and Color and has appeared in promotional photo shoots and videos for magazines such as InStyle, YoDona, Telva, and Elle.
