ANDY MORAHAN - Brief Biography
Andy Morahan is one of the UK's most acclaimed directors, celebrated for his work across various filmmaking genres. His iconic Guns N' Roses music videos and the Guess Jeans commercial featuring Harry Dean Stanton and Juliette Lewis—one of the most decorated ads ever, earning a Cannes Golden Lion, 5 D&AD Awards, and 6 Clios—highlight his diverse talent.
An MVT award-winning director, Andy launched his commercial career working with major clients such as Ford, Carling, Lynx, Bacardi, Miller, Barclays, Vodafone, VW, Canon, and GHD. More recently, he was chosen by Toyota to direct their Prius campaign starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
Andy has continually expanded his directing scope, moving from feature films to live shows and event cinema. His work includes directing numerous live satellite broadcasts for the English National Opera from London’s Coliseum to over 400 cinemas across Europe. He also directed a pioneering 3D concert film for JLS and captured George Michael’s final concert at the Garnier Opera House in Paris.
In 2018, Andy directed and co-wrote the film 'Boogie Man,' about an 18-year-old British Indian boy fascinated by Saturday Night Fever and 70s disco culture. After winning more than 40 festival awards, the film was released in 2019 and is now available on digital platforms like Amazon Prime and Sky Movies.
For 2022/23, Andy is set to direct three films: 'Severance,' a heist movie set in London; 'Toilers of the Sea,' based on Victor Hugo’s novel about a solitary shipwreck salvage off Guernsey’s coast in the 1800s; and 'Alright Kev,' a modern retelling of the Lambton Worm myth, combining elements of 'Tremors' and 'This is England' with a northern English setting.
He is also developing three prime-time TV drama series: 'Salvator,' an action series exploring the illegal ivory trade in Africa and Southeast Asia; 'The Seventh,' an environmentally focused drama set in a Southern California surfing community; and 'Marshall Law,' a period drama chronicling the life of famed barrister Edward Marshall Hall.
