Biografia
Miguel Bardem was born in 1964 into a renowned Spanish film family. His father was director Juan Antonio Bardem, his aunt is actress Pilar Bardem, and his cousins are actors Javier and Carlos Bardem. From an early age, Miguel was determined to continue the family tradition.
His debut short film, "La madre," showcased Bardem's distinct voice. In 1996, he won the Goya Award for Best Short Film. That same year, he collaborated with David Menkes and Alfonso Albacete on "Más que amor, frenesí," earning a Goya nomination for Best Breakthrough Film.
He then directed two bittersweet comedies on his own: "La mujer más fea del mundo" (1999) and "Twelfth Night" (2001).
In 2001, Miguel also created one of the first promotional Internet shorts, "Soberano, el rey canalla."
Following these, he directed "Swindled," a drama about con artists, and the feature-length documentary "Niñas de hojalata," which explores child prostitution in Nepal.
In 2007, Bardem ventured into the world of a famous Spanish comic with the second film in the franchise, "Mortadelo y Filemón: Misión salvar la Tierra."
By 2009, Miguel expanded into television with the hit series "Cazadores de hombres," "Ángel o demonio," "Los misterios de Laura," and "Hospital Central."
He then focused on TV films centered on significant events in Spanish history, such as "Carrero Blanco," "Prim, asesinato en la Calle del Turco," and "22 Ángeles."
In 2014, Bardem returned to documentary filmmaking with a humorous look at the king of Spain’s nightlife, the owner of the famous Pacha nightclubs.
Miguel Bardem’s films have received numerous international awards and have been featured at festivals including Sundance, Toronto, and Miami.
Through his production company, Goodfellas, Miguel has produced "The King of the Mountain" and directed campaigns for brands like Coca-Cola, Scotch-Brite, and ING Direct.
