Rob Hedden wrote and directed the 2012 romantic action comedy "You May Not Kiss The Bride," featuring Dave Annable, Katharine McPhee, Kathy Bates, Rob Schneider, and Mena Suvari. His original screenplay "The Condemned" was released theatrically by Lionsgate in 2007. This action film, starring Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vinnie Jones, remained a national top ten DVD rental for over a month in 2008. Hedden also authored the novelization of "The Condemned" for Simon & Schuster to coincide with the film's release. He co-wrote the screenplay and story for the Nickelodeon/Paramount feature "Clockstoppers," which he also co-produced. Based on his original spec script, the film sold within 48 hours amid a bidding war and stayed in the domestic box office top ten for four consecutive weeks. Hedden also wrote the novelization of "Clockstoppers" for Simon & Schuster.
He made his feature directorial debut with "Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan" for Paramount; critic Leonard Maltin praised it as "the best film in the Friday series, imaginatively directed and written by Hedden." Hedden also wrote and directed the successful TV movies "The Colony," starring John Ritter, and "Alien Fury: Countdown To Invasion," featuring WWF wrestling star Chyna. He directed and co-wrote "Dying To Live," starring Jonathan Frakes, Shannon Elizabeth, and Linda Cardellini, and directed the USA Network films "Any Place But Home" and "Kidnapped In Paradise."
Hedden wrote and co-executive produced "When The Cradle Falls" and co-wrote "Simon & Simon: Together Again" for CBS. He also penned the highly rated NBC films "The Return of Ironside" and "Knight Rider 2000," the latter being NBC’s highest-rated TV movie that year. His series writing credits include "MacGyver," "SeaQuest DSV," and the revival of "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," for which he received an ACE nomination. His episodic directing credits encompass "Star Trek: Enterprise," "Danny," and "The Commish." Additionally, he directed and wrote multiple episodes of the cult favorite "Friday the 13th: The Series," including one that earned an Emmy nomination. Hedden has also contributed to UPN’s revival of "The Twilight Zone."
A graduate of Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, CA, Hedden began his career creating behind-the-scenes documentaries. His film "What Is Brazil?," about the making of Terry Gilliam’s acclaimed film "Brazil," earned a CINE Eagle Award, a C.I.N.D.Y. Award, and was showcased at the Smithsonian Institution.
Alongside his larger studio and network projects, Hedden wrote, directed, and co-produced the independent feature "Boxboarders!" The comedy received the Outstanding Achievement in Filmmaking award at the 2007 Newport Beach Film Festival and was nominated for Best Picture at the 2007 Giffoni Hollywood Festival. He is also a co-producer of "Augie," the true story of ALS survivor Augie Nieto’s quest for a cure for Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Directed by James Keach, the feature documentary was scheduled for release in 2017.
