Biografia
Dimi Kireeff is an active composer, sound designer and music editor. He was born in country side Brazil to Alekcey Kireeff, a medical doctor, and Maria Lopes Kireeff, a professor of biochemistry and biophysics. Since an early age he showed musical talent and passion for the arts. According to the family tradition, though, he went to medical school in São Paulo and graduated as a medical doctor, after what he was hired by the university as a researcher in neuroscience. With a promising career in science developing fast, he was dared to apply to Berklee College of Music in Boston by a friend. After being accepted, he decided to go after his musical passion and majored in Film Scoring at that prestigious music school. Back in Brazil three years later, he started his first music production company with drummer and producer Tuto Ferraz, the "Grooveria Electro-acustica". Together they produced and recorded the album "Tutu, o Menino Índio" gathering artists like Rita Lee, Marisa Orth, Vânia Bastos, André Abujamra and others, telling and singing the story written by Toni Brandão. The album was nominated for the prestigious Sharp Award in 1996. In 1998, Dimi Kireeff was approached by Wilson Simoninha to compose the soundtrack for his friend Luiz Villaça's debut feature film, Por Trás do Pano (1999). This project was a starting point of two long lasting collaborations: with Simoninha and also Jair Oliveira, his former schoolmate at Berklee, Dimi founded "S de Samba", a music production company dedicated mainly to create audio (music and post) for advertising, being one of the biggest and best succeeded in the country; with Luiz Villaça, Dimi Kireeff formed a life-long cooperation in films and TV series. As of today, Kireeff is the head of Boogieman/BR, an enterprise that makes music and audio post for cinema, TV, theater and advertising, produces films and manages copyright.
