Gio's initial exposure to acting came through two short plays, where he played supporting roles but quickly realized he could captivate the audience and evoke laughter—experiences that left a lasting impact on him.
As a teenager, he developed a passion for films like "Back to the Future," "Indiana Jones," and anything featuring Jerry Lewis. However, attending a small school without an arts program in a town with limited opportunities, he spent much of his time engaging in typical youthful mischief until he connected with the talented and funny sons of Judy Russell at Enchainement Dance Studio in Prince George, BC. There, he sang, danced, and acted in numerous local musical productions.
In his final year of high school, feeling uncertain about his future and uninterested in the local opportunities, his principal recommended he explore a small theatre school. Unaware that such schools existed, this suggestion sparked hope that he might turn his passion for acting into a viable career.
Gio pursued acting studies at the Rosebud School of the Arts in Alberta, where he completed his training and immediately began working in Western Canadian theatre. He toured with Trickster Theatre, a devised theatre company where he created 20-minute performances with children, rehearsing and presenting new material weekly during the school year. Summers were spent acting on both the main and studio stages at Rosebud Theatre. This continued until he met his wife and relocated to Vancouver, BC.
In Vancouver, Gio continued his theatre work, starring in productions such as "Mary's Wedding" at Gateway Theatre; "Almost Maine," "The Whipping Man," "Doubt," and "My Name Is Asher Lev" at Pacific Theatre; "Over the River and Through the Woods" and "Amadeus" at Chemainus Theatre; and "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Confessions of a Paperboy" at Rosebud Theatre. He also began pursuing a film and television career, earning credits in "Life XP," "My True Story," "Supernatural," "All of My Heart 3," "Intruders," "Aftermath," "The Romeo Section," "When Calls The Heart," and starring as the lead in the feature film "She Has A Name" (available on Amazon Prime).
Recognizing the limitations of Vancouver's industry, Gio and his wife decided to move to Los Angeles, CA, where greater opportunities awaited.
Now in LA, with experience, knowledge, and a broader range of interests, Gio not only acts but has also started creating, directing, and producing projects. He hopes you appreciate his work.
