Melanie Cruz is a SAG-AFTRA/Equity actor with experience in over 40 plays, three feature films, numerous short films, commercials, and voiceovers. In January 2020, she joined Rubicon Theatre Company portraying Allison Davis in the West Coast Premiere of Carey Crim’s "Never Not Once." A committed theatre performer, Melanie made her debut at 14 in "The Ice Wolf" at Denver Civic Theatre. Her theatre credits include Stella in "A Streetcar Named Desire," Lily in "The Skriker," Belarius in "Cymbeline," Sara in "Lucky Me," and Miss Ovington in "Dr. Du Bois and Miss Ovington" alongside veteran actor Ben Guillory at Robey Theatre Company. Her television appearances include roles in "American Horror Story," "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," "Big Love," and "Scandal."
Melanie describes herself as an American Mutt with Scots-Irish, Spanish-Mexican, Czech, and German heritage. Hailing from Aurora, Colorado, she attended Gateway High School and spent her junior year as a foreign exchange student in Dinan, France, where she developed a passion for French culture and became fluent in the language. She earned a BA in English and Theatre from Barnard College - Columbia University and has trained in London at BADA, in improv with Darren Yalacki, voiceover with Paul Pape, and acting with Krater and BGB Studios.
A passionate traveler, Melanie has explored destinations worldwide, including Thailand, Western Samoa, and spent a year in Antarctica working at McMurdo Station, the largest American base there. She is a motorcyclist, certified diver, DIY enthusiast, and devoted animal lover with two rescue cats and two rescue dogs, whom she frequently serenades. She speaks fluent English and French and conversational Spanish.
