Brian Lockwood is a highly sought-after television director and editor with over thirty years of industry experience. His portfolio spans concert specials, DVDs, and music videos for major artists such as Motley Crue, Metallica, The Pretenders, Bon Jovi, and George Strait. He has also directed large-scale multi-camera entertainment events like ABC and HGTV's "The Tournament of Roses Parade" and International Master Control for The Academy Awards.
Sports programming has been a natural fit for Brian, having directed national and international competitive events for major broadcast networks and cable channels. His extensive sports credits include "X Games" for ABC and ESPN, "NASCAR Racing" for FOX Sports and ESPN, "Monster Energy Supercross" and "Indy Car Racing" for CBS, Speed, and FOX, the "U.S. Pro Ski Tour" for ABC and ESPN, "Championship Boxing" for DSKN, "TORC: The Off Road Championships" for NBC and FOX, and the "Red Bull Signature Series" for NBC.
Producers of factual and entertainment programming rely on Lockwood’s talent for uncovering compelling stories and visual beauty in his projects. He directed Animal Planet's "Trail Mix," a high-definition special that combined storytelling and musical performances featuring Leeann Rimes, Sheryl Crow, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Ronan Tynan, Rob Thomas, and Joe Perry of Aerosmith. He also directed "American Thunder," hosted by Chad McQueen and Michael Madsen, and "Wings of Glory," hosted by astronaut Charles Pete Conrad for Speed Channel. In recent years, he has directed over 180 episodes of poker programming, including NBC's "Poker After Dark" and "National Heads Up Poker Championships," "Poker Superstars" for Fox Sports and NBC, as well as the "U.S. Poker Championships," "Pro-Am Poker Equalizer," and ESPN's "World Series of Poker," which was broadcast live for the first time in its forty-one-year history in 2011.
Early in his career, Lockwood was at the forefront of digital technology in both production and post-production. About twenty years ago, he founded Broadcast Edit, a cutting-edge post-production facility that became a key resource for major broadcasters and production companies in Southern California. As an expert Avid and Premiere editor, he serves as the senior on-site editor for FOX's "American Flat Track" and was senior editor and system designer for NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series for twelve years. Brian remains highly sought after as both a director and editor. He is also active in 3D, AR, and VR production, directing live 3D/AR/VR concerts and specials for AEG Live and Fan Tracks.
Brian Lockwood has earned numerous accolades, including a Billboard Music Video of the Year Award for his work with Boxing Gandhi, RIAA Platinum awards for Motley Crue, Eric Clapton, and George Strait, eight Telly Awards for various sports projects, NASA, and the U.S. Treasury Department, as well as six Emmy nominations with three wins. His most recent Emmy was awarded for NBC's coverage of "The Beijing 2022: XXIV Winter Olympic Games." He is a proud member of the Directors Guild of America.
