After securing production deals with Warner Brothers and Paramount Pictures, former Bakula Productions President Tom Spiroff established his own company, Macedon Media, Incorporated. Macedon Media has completed production on two independent comedy films, "Chicken Man" and "Two Divorced Guys in a Bar," along with the television pilot "Reality Check." Both films were Official Selections at the 2006 Metro Shorts Film Festival, with "Chicken Man" also chosen for the 2006 Macedonian Film Festival in Toronto. Tom served as producer and director for all projects.
Tom also produced the indie feature films "Escanaba in da Moonlight" and "Super Sucker," both written, directed, and starring Jeff Daniels. "Super Sucker" earned the 2002 Audience Award at HBO's U.S. Comedy Arts Film Festival in Aspen, Colorado.
Beginning his producing career in theater, Tom later shifted focus to film and television. As President of Bakula Productions, Inc., he played a key role in acquiring, developing, and producing various projects. His credits include producing the CBS series "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" (starring Maria Bello), the CBS pilot "Prowler" (featuring Scott Bakula), executive producing the Emmy-nominated Showtime feature "What Girls Learn" (Elizabeth Perkins), and producing the CBS telefilm "Papa's Angels" (Cynthia Nixon).
Raised in Dearborn, Michigan, Spiroff earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Wayne State University in Detroit. In 1982, he moved to New York City to pursue producing while also acting in numerous off-Broadway plays and musicals. He originated the role of SAL in the successful off-Broadway musical "Nite Club Confidential," and moved to Los Angeles when the show transferred there. Settling in LA, he continued producing theater and transitioned into film, collaborating with producer Matt Williams ("Home Improvement").
