Filmmaker, editor, and songwriter Josh Rifkin captivates audiences through a distinctive blend of creativity, expertise, and extensive experience.
Developing his skills as a Philadelphia teenager, Josh created a series of "Bloodbag Movies"—named after his invention of a homemade blood-squirting squib—and won a regional television contest for filmmakers. While still in high school, he became a sought-after videographer, enlisting friends as his crew to film weddings, bar mitzvahs, and anniversaries on weekends. At York University, Josh further refined his craft by directing his thesis documentary, My Way, which chronicled his family's immigrant story and received acclaim at multiple film festivals.
Josh launched his professional music career in Toronto as part of his college band Mumblin' Jim. The band gained popularity on the San Francisco club scene, eventually signing with Island Records and releasing the album The Rainbow Connection. Later, as a solo artist in Los Angeles, Josh's songwriting talents were in demand, with his original compositions featured in soundtracks for The Mindy Project, Friday Night Lights, Parenthood, Army Wives, and the John Singleton crime thriller Four Brothers.
Josh’s editing expertise is showcased in television projects such as the Veronica Mars reboot on Hulu, Nickelodeon/Paramount’s The Really Loud House, and YouTube Originals’ hit series Foursome. His feature film editing credits include Not Easily Broken (Sony Pictures), Catacombs (Lionsgate), and the award-winning Snapshots starring Piper Laurie. Additional editing work features Edward Norton’s Down in the Valley and Ira & Abby with Jennifer Westfeldt.
Josh resides in Los Angeles with his wife and daughter.
