Chuck spent 25 years as an L.A. trial lawyer before turning his attention to writing.
AS A NOVELIST, writing both as Chuck Greaves and as C. Joseph Greaves, he's been a finalist for most of the major honors in crime fiction including the Shamus, Lefty, Macavity, and Audie Awards, as well as the New Mexico-Arizona, Oklahoma, and Colorado Book Awards and the Harper Lee Prize for Legal Fiction. His 2012 novel Hard Twisted was hailed by the Los Angeles Times as "a gritty, gripping read, and one that begs to be put on film" while his 2015 novel Tom & Lucky was a Wall Street Journal "Ten Best Mysteries of 2015" selection. His latest novel The Chimera Club, the fourth installment in his critically-acclaimed Jack MacTaggart series of legal mysteries, was a 2023 Colorado Book Award finalist and was named the "Best Mystery Novel of 2022" by the Colorado Authors League.
AS A SCREENWRITER, Chuck's debut TV pilot Badwater, directed by Felix Alcala and co-starring Kevin Kilner and Rob Mayes, was produced in 2020. His screenplay Hard Twisted, which scored a 9/10 on The Black List, won Best Feature Screenplay at the 2024 Fire Island Film Festival and was a finalist in the same category at the 2023 Utah International Film Festival.
Chuck lives in Colorado with his wife Lynda.
