David was born in Wheeling, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, and developed a passion for drawing cartoons at the age of four. After graduating from Columbia College Chicago in 2005, he relocated to Los Angeles, where he began his career as a storyboard artist on Adult Swim’s popular show "Robot Chicken" at ShadowMachine Films. During this time, he also contributed to the cult favorite "Moral Orel," collaborating with creator and writer Dino Stamatopoulos and director Chris McKay. Before the series concluded, he earned the chance to co-write and direct the finale episode, "Honor." He then went on to direct Stamatopoulos’ next series, "Mary Shelley's Frankenhole." Afterwards, David reunited with Chris McKay as a story artist on McKay’s first feature film, "The LEGO Movie," which led to his involvement in all subsequent LEGO films and other Warner Bros. projects. His comedy writing skills expanded through punch-up work for various professional projects and writing sketch comedy for local Los Angeles-based troupes. David has been privileged to work on "The Angry Birds Movie," "The Happy Honda Days" commercials, the acclaimed series "Bojack Horseman," the Chris McKay-directed film "Renfield," and many other animated and live-action ventures. Currently, David and his wife, Abigail Hunt, continue their work in the film and television industry, spanning both live-action and animation, while residing happily in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
