Producer Alan Blomquist has over 30 years of experience in the entertainment industry. After a successful tenure as Executive Producer on more than 25 feature films for major studios such as Warner Bros, Paramount, and Miramax, Blomquist played a key role in launching the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. This initiative turned a popular live comedy tour into three feature-length stand-up comedy DVDs that sold over 10 million copies and sparked a wave of scripted movies and stand-up specials.
Blomquist's recent projects include "Book Club," starring Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen, as well as the commercially successful "A Dog's Purpose," which reunited him with renowned director Lasse Hallstrom. He also produced "Chocolat," which earned five Academy Award nominations including Best Picture, alongside Hallstrom, as well as "The Cider House Rules," nominated for seven Academy Awards, and "What's Eating Gilbert Grape."
His executive producing credits include the Johnny Cash biopic "Walk The Line," "Taking Lives" with Angelina Jolie and Ethan Hawke, Don Roos’s "Bounce," "What Dreams May Come" with Robin Williams, and films such as "Spawn," "A Little Princess," "Beautiful Girls," "Of Mice and Men," and "Everybody’s All American."
Blomquist produced a remake of the cult classic "Vanishing Point" for Fox TV featuring Viggo Mortensen and won an Emmy for the ABC After School Special, "The War Between the Classes."
He has produced and/or directed over 14 one-hour, multi-camera stand-up specials for a wide range of comedians including Lisa Lampanelli, Russell Peters, Ralphie May, Larry the Cable Guy, and Bill Engvall. These specials have been broadcast on HBO, Comedy Central, and TBS.
Before becoming a producer, Blomquist held important production roles in both film and television, serving as first assistant director on "Iron Eagle" and unit production manager on "La Bamba" and "Uncle Buck."
Blomquist resides in Los Angeles with his fifteen-year-old daughter, Annika. His twin sons, Sam and Estella, are pursuing their own paths in the world.
