Throughout her career, Cari Shayne has built an impressive portfolio, featuring leading roles in numerous television pilots, series, feature films, and made-for-TV movies. She began as a teenager playing Karen Wexler on the daytime drama General Hospital (1963) and soon transitioned to prime-time with a recurring role as Neve Campbell's best friend on the popular Fox series Party of Five (1994).
Shayne has also starred in several made-for-TV movies, including Naomi & Wynonna: Love Can Build a Bridge (1995), where she portrayed the young country music star Naomi Judd. She played the lead alongside Thomas Gibson, Meredith Baxter, and Tom Conti in Louisa May Alcott's The Inheritance (1997), appeared in the western Shaughnessy (1996) with Sarah Paulson, and featured in The Price of Heaven (1997), directed by Peter Bogdanovich, alongside Grant Show and the esteemed Cicely Tyson.
Her guest and recurring roles span a wide range of television shows such as Cold Case (2003), The Division (2001), Star Trek: Voyager (1995), and Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990), among others. She also starred in the television pilots Forbidden Island (1999) and Dope.
In 2008, after portraying Detective Rachel Harding on Criminal Minds (2005), Cari took a break from acting to pursue nursing. She trained at LA County USC Medical Center and became a high-risk Obstetrical Nurse, caring for women and infants in a hospital setting.
After an 11-year hiatus, Cari returned to television as Dr. Genevieve Cates in the Emmy Award-winning series The Bay (2010) on Amazon, and recently appeared as Jack and Rebecca's maternity nurse in This Is Us.
