Stephen Colletti was born in Newport Beach, California. Throughout his childhood and teenage years, he frequently spent time at the beach, playing sports, and organizing adventures with his friends. Whether it was camping or snowboarding in the Sierra Nevada Mountains or visiting his grandparents near Vancouver's coast, Stephen enjoyed traveling with family and friends. His heritage includes Italian (one quarter), Irish, Scottish, English, and Swedish roots.
In middle school, Stephen developed an interest in acting and joined the Junior Park Avenue Player’s theatre program. During high school, MTV approached him to appear on Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County (2004). Afterward, Stephen moved north to attend San Francisco State University. The following year, he chose not to return to San Francisco and instead relocated to Los Angeles to further pursue his acting career.
After two seasons on Laguna Beach, Colletti left the show and moved to New York City, where he became a VJ for MTV’s Total Request Live (TRL), hosting over 40 episodes. Since then, Stephen has maintained a steady career in film and television. While on TRL, he also hosted MTV specials including Beach House, Spring Break, VMA’s Backstage Live, and two MTV New Year’s Eve events in Times Square. Colletti’s film credits include Normal Adolescent Behavior (2007), his debut, alongside Amber Tamblyn, Ashton Holmes, Hilarie Burton, and Kelli Garner; Amazing Racer (2009), with Claire Forlani, Eric Roberts, and Louis Gossett Jr.; Mask Maker (2011), starring Nikki Deloach, Terry Kiser, and Michael Berryman; and All About Christmas Eve, featuring Haylie Duff and Chris Carmack, among others.
In 2006, Colletti began a recurring role on One Tree Hill (2003), eventually becoming a series regular. The show concluded in 2012, with Colletti credited as a regular on sixty episodes. In 2014, he appeared in Celluloid Dreams, a short film by Jonathan Dillon that won two grand jury awards and qualified for Academy Award consideration. In 2016, Colletti returned to his role on VH1’s first scripted series, Hit The Floor, where he had been recurring since 2013. In 2018, he co-wrote, produced, and starred alongside One Tree Hill co-star James Lafferty in the television pilot Everyone Is Doing Great.
