Steve began his career at Hanna-Barbera Australia as a layout artist. With Bill Hanna's approval, he eventually became the Creative Director of the studio, where he established and led a "Specials" division, producing and directing several one-hour programs for ABC and CBS that earned him an Emmy nomination.
Following the sale of Hanna-Barbera Australia to Disney Animation Australia, Steve was recruited to establish Southern Star Productions. He later founded his own pre-production studio for animation and commercials, serving clients such as Coke, McDonald's, Foster's, and Quicksilver.
In 1996, Warner Bros. Feature Animation brought Steve to Los Angeles. There, he contributed to the critically acclaimed film The Iron Giant with Brad Bird. Later, as layout supervisor, he worked on Osmosis Jones and served as live-action liaison, collaborating with Bobby and Peter Farrelly on location in Massachusetts. After working on multiple projects with Warner Bros. Feature Animation and DreamWorks, Steve joined Disney Animation, initially as a consultant and then as artistic supervisor for the Direct-to-Video division. He traveled to Sydney to assist in training and restructuring Walt Disney Animation Australia, which later became DisneyToon Studios Australia. Upon returning to Los Angeles, he continued his work with Disney.
In 2005, Steve joined Imagi Animation Studios as head of story and cinematographer for the #1 box office feature TMNT, later serving as co-director on Gatchaman. He played a key role in restructuring and training studios in Manila, Sydney, and Hong Kong. More recently, he worked on storyboards for the live-action thriller Dead of Night, scheduled for release in 2010.
