David Rice, born in 1964 in Weslaco, Texas, has spent his life in the state. He currently splits his time between Austin and the Rio Grande Valley. His work is largely inspired by South Texas and his Mexican American heritage. Previously the writer-in-residence at Llano Grande Center for Research and Development in Edcouch, he now teaches and mentors middle and high school students in creative writing. His short story collection, Crazy Loco, has garnered significant praise, and his stories have appeared in various anthologies for both adults and teens. Additionally, he has written and directed plays, feature films, short films, and a one-man show titled "Just a Kid from Edcouch.
