Born in Quebec City, Canada, Jean-François earned a degree in Film Studies from the Université de Montréal in 2007. He wrote and directed the short films "L'ENFARGÉE," "12 HOMMES EN TABARNAK," and "ORDINAIRES," which were showcased at festivals worldwide. He then transitioned to web series, creating "LE POOL," a 24-episode series across three seasons. In 2015, he wrote and directed "LE GARS D'LA SHOP," which premiered at TIFF, won three awards at the Gala Prends Ça Court, and was featured in over 20 international festivals. Returning to web content in 2018, he directed "L'ARÈNE," awarded Best Webseries at the Festival de la Fiction de La Rochelle and competed at Canneseries and the Gémeaux awards. In 2020, "CONNEXION EN COURS" won Best Cultural Diversity Web Series at Toronto Webfest and received a nomination at the 35th Prix Gémeaux. His artistic style, deeply influenced by his interest in spoken language, masculinity, and realism, often incorporates improvisation. Like his 2019 short film "LE PRINCE DE VAL-BÉ," his 2020 short "LANDGRAVES" enjoyed an extensive festival circuit, earning multiple honors including the TIFF Avrich Award for 10 promising filmmakers, Best Director at Festival Off Courts Trouville, as well as awards from Prends Ça Court, Macabro, and Fantasia.
