Duane Sharp, born in Kansas City, began acting and boxing at the age of ten. After graduating from the University of Kansas, he relocated to Chicago to study improvisation at The Second City and Improv Olympia under Charna Halpern and the late Del Close. Duane remains based in Chicago, where he has engaged in nearly every aspect of performance except disc jockeying. He holds a Black Belt in Shidokan Karate, was the 2006 NAGA Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Champion, won the Weekend War kickboxing competition, has fought in 60 amateur boxing matches, and works as a fight choreographer.
His film work includes roles such as Father Callaway in Road to Perdition (2002); a Polish priest in Stir of Echoes (1999); the lead in Zen Noir (2004), which won Best Feature at the D.C., Rhode Island, and Moondance festivals, portraying a hardboiled detective turned Zen monk; a homeless religious zealot in Dark (2003), featured at the Toronto Film Festival; and Sheriff Artie in The Godfather of Green Bay (2005), where he tries to save Lauren Holly and arrest Tony Goldwyn while under the influence of reefer and Ring Dings. He continued exploring complex law enforcement characters as a sadistic CIA interrogator in The Sleeper (2007). Other roles include a pathological talent agent in Totally Confused (1998) and a transvestite bank manager in Butch Camp (1996). On television, he appeared on Early Edition (1996) and Kevin's Room (2001), which won first place at the 2003 Black History Hall of Fame TV Special. Duane has featured in over 100 commercials and more than 200 training videos. He is the voice of the ring announcer and Herbie the trainer in EA Sports' Fight Night 3 video game. In Chicago theater, Duane has performed with The Goodman, Steppenwolf, Chicago Shakespeare, The Court, Apple Tree, Shaw Chicago, Bailiwick, and numerous other local theaters.
