Gracy Singh uniquely blends star quality with a girl-next-door charm. With numerous hits to her credit, she has established herself in both acting and dance. She is renowned for her remarkable performances in Lagaan, Munnabhai M.B.B.S., Armaan, and Gangajaal. Gracy is also dedicated to her spiritual journey as a member of the Brahma Kumaris, where she is deeply loved and respected.
Raised in Delhi within a traditional Sikh family, Gracy's passion for acting and dance began during her school years. She took Bharat Natyam lessons during vacations while attending Manav Sthali School. After finishing school in the mid-1990s, she joined a dance troupe called "Planets," performing on stage while pursuing a degree in Arts. During this period, she traveled to Bombay for modeling assignments, advertisements, and dance shows. In 1997, she landed her breakthrough role in the TV serial Amanat. Television served as her training ground, gradually honing her acting skills. The show's success provided her with a strong platform.
In 2001, Gracy won over film audiences with her first leading role as Gauri in the Oscar-nominated film Lagaan alongside Aamir Khan. Her rustic appearance and sincere performance endeared her to viewers, making her a memorable part of this historic film. The year 2003 saw the release of three of her films: Armaan, Gangajaal, and Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., with the latter becoming another major hit. Gracy boasts one of the best hit-to-miss ratios among actresses.
After several successful films, she embraced more unconventional roles. Additionally, Gracy became an accomplished classical dancer, debuting her theatre project "Radhika" (Dance Drama) in 2006. She continued to take on significant roles, earning acclaim in regional films such as Santosham (Telugu), Loudspeaker (Malayalam), and Rama Rama Krishna Krishna (Telugu). She also appeared in Punjabi films like Choodiyan.
In 2009, Gracy established her own dance troupe, focusing on stage performances that showcase India’s rich cultural heritage and promote positive representations of women. With strong technical skills and innovative ideas, her performances are noted for a unique thought process and fresh approach to dance. While deeply rooted in tradition, she has developed her own distinctive style.
