Denis Metev is a Bulgarian writer, producer, and actor with a lifelong passion for the horror genre. He discovered his love for all things creepy at the age of five, watching eerie movies on VHS tapes and local cable TV. As both a writer and avid reader, Denis draws inspiration from the works of Stephen King, Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, Irvine Welsh, David Morrell, Neil Gaiman, Hunter S. Thompson, and many others.
His fascination with classic horror films deepened in his teenage years, when he became obsessed with icons such as Vincent Price, Boris Karloff, Marty Feldman, Peter Lorre, and Christopher Lee. He also has a fondness for horror-comedy, with Young Frankenstein (1974) ranking among his all-time favorites; slashers-having watched Scream (1996) around twenty times before turning thirteen; and zombie films, for which he credits (or blames) George Romero.
Denis's first involvement in cinema was the short horror film Garlic: A Vampire Story, which he co-wrote and championed as executive producer, essentially ensuring the film was shot and released, alongside his friend and producer Radoslav I. Todorov. Later, he met talented indie filmmaker Miroslav Petkov, with whom he has frequently collaborated as an actor, writer, and producer.
