Award-winning cinematographer Morvarid is a visual storyteller who moves through the world with an unshakable instinct for human truth. Her lens has traveled across continents-from war-torn bunkers in the Middle East to micro-budget sound stages in Los Angeles-always seeking the poetry within the chaos.
Her first feature, Bangkoks Fear (2015), which she directed and shot solo in Thailand, was praised for its bold cinematography at the Creative International Film Festival. Since then, Mor has shoot a wide range of acclaimed narrative and documentary projects, including the politically-charged feature Guillotine-a sweeping visual mosaic representing five countries and five time periods, all shot on location in Los Angeles under limited resources.
Mor camera has also taken her deep into dangerous territory. For the George Clooney Foundation for Justice, she filmed in Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon-spending Christmas Eve in a bunker as ancient artifacts were looted for the black market. For the BBC Killing Escobar, she stood face-to-face with former killers responsible for thousands of deaths, interviewing both assassins and the DEA agents who helped take down Pablo Escobar. These experiences infuse her cinematography with raw edge, authenticity, and soul. She has worked on studio projects like Gemini Man, Mile 22, and Apichatpong Weerasethakul Cemetery of Splendour, and has contributed to globally streamed series including Narcos, Jack Ryan, Echo 3, The Amazing Race, Locked Up Abroad, and documentary specials for National Geographic and Discovery Channel.
Mor has collaborated with some of the most celebrated filmmakers in the world-Oscar winner Ang Lee, Peter Berg, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Phil Abraham, Peter Webber, and others-and has supported camera teams on films starring Will Smith, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Clive Owen, John Malkovich, Wagner Moura, and John Krasinski.
With over twenty years in the industry, Morvarid work has screened at major international festivals including BFI London, BIFF, Seoul Guro, Byron Bay, Glasgow. Her cinematography was recently honored with the Best Cinematography Award at the New Filmmakers LA Film Festival 2024.
Having filmed across East Asia, Europe, the UK, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas, Mor continues to chase stories that demand to be seen-bold, intimate, and unforgettable. [morfilms.net]
