British born, though mostly Spanish raised, Arianne Sved holds a B.A. in Film and Video from the London College of Communication, where she was tutored by respected film theorist Laura Mulvey and internationally acclaimed director Ken Loach among others. She later broadened her filmmaking skills with courses and workshops in editing, voice-overs, production and directing, in Spain, Germany and the US, her present country of residence.
Arianne Sved has worked on a number of films and TV shows in various capacities, notably as an Art Director on Mannheim Festival Winner China Lake, and has written/directed three short films, including This Fresh Air of Dawning, screened at the Clairmont-Ferrand and Edinburgh Fringe festivals.
More recently, Sved has written two award-winning screenplays: Nowa's Dream (short) and Back Game, a feature drama thriller about a New York Latina who confronts the man she believes molested her as a child. Back Game was one of the three Winners of the Spring/Summer 2010 Acclaim Script Contest as well as a Finalist in the 2010 Screenplay Search Competition. Acclaim Script judges described Back Game as a compelling drama with an intriguing plot line, strong dialogue, and a solid heroine we find ourselves pulling for. The contest's critics commended Arianne Sved for handling Back Game's touchy subject matter with a steady hand through good use of subtext and emotional subtlety.
