Ignazio Spalla (May 5, 1924 – 2005), professionally known as Pedro Sanchez, was an Italian character actor prominent in European genre films throughout the 1960s and 1970s. He was a familiar presence in the Italian Western genre, often portraying Mexican gunmen, outlaws, and frontier characters.
Over a career spanning about fifteen years, Spalla appeared in more than forty films. His distinctive look and grounded acting style made him a frequent supporting actor during the peak of the Spaghetti Western era. He is best known for his role as Garrincha in Sabata (1969), directed by Gianfranco Parolini and starring Lee Van Cleef, a role that led to further appearances in related Westerns such as Adios, Sabata (1970) with Yul Brynner and Return of Sabata (1971).
Beyond Westerns, Spalla also acted in films like Shoot Loud, Louder... I Don’t Understand (1966) and Hitch-Hike (1977). Though mainly cast in supporting roles, he remains a notable figure in Italian genre cinema of his time.
