Bruno Isaac Grade Caetano, a self-taught animator and builder, graduated from the Center for Multimedia Studies and Research at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon, specializing in Stop Motion. Although he favors this technique, his career has spanned various animation methods and other artistic fields. He has worked as an animator, producer, and director at multiple production companies. Bruno Caetano is also a founding member of COLA Animation, an expanding international cooperative of artists dedicated to producing, teaching, and promoting animation globally.
As a producer, Bruno Caetano has earned significant nominations and awards. His extensive catalog of auteur films under the COLA Animation banner, created by talented directors worldwide, has been selected and honored at prestigious festivals such as Cannes, Toronto International Film Festival, Melbourne International Film Festival, Locarno Film Festival, Annecy, and Zagreb Animation Festival, among others. In 2022/2023, with João Gonzalez’s "Ice Merchants," he became the first Portuguese animation producer nominated for a European Film Award, the second to win an Annie Award for best short film, and in January 2023, the first Portuguese producer nominated for an Academy Award (Oscar). Since 2023, he is also a member of the Academy.
