Odette Bedogni was born in Bracciano on September 25, 1929. At the age of 8, she enrolled in the Scala ballet school, where she studied for seven years and performed in various ballets such as "La bottega fantastica" (Gioacchino Rossini) and "La bella addormentata nel bosco" (Tchaikovsky). After World War II, she began her film career under the stage name Delia Scala. Director Luigi Zampa recognized her innocent smile and girl-next-door charm, casting her in a significant role in the film "Anni difficili." With her spirited and energetic presence, she appeared in numerous movies.
In 1954, Delia made her theatre debut alongside Carlo Dapporto in "Giove in doppiopetto," and later worked with Pietro Garinei and Sandro Giovannini in productions such as "L'adorabile Giulio" (1957), "Buonanotte Bettina" (1956), "My Fair Lady" (1964), and "Rinaldo in campo" (1966). In 1956, she performed with Nino Taranto in the variety show "Lui e Lei." She co-hosted "Canzonissima" in 1959 and 1960 with Nino Manfredi and Paolo Panelli, under the direction of Antonello Falqui, and in 1969 starred in "Delia Scala story." During the 1970s, she appeared with Lando Buzzanca in "Signore e Signora."
Scala faced breast cancer, which led to health challenges that prevented her from returning to her career. In 2001, her partner, Arturo Fremura, passed away from liver cancer, causing her profound grief. Known as the undisputed Queen of TV variety shows, Delia Scala died at the age of 74 on January 15, 2005, in her home in Livorno.
