In 2006, Wilson, along with former GodGames partners Harry Miller and Rick Stults, founded Gamecock Media Group, a large-scale, artist-first independent video game production and publishing company collaborating with independent studios worldwide. Between January 2002 and November 2004, Mike held dual roles in gaming and film. He was Executive Vice President of Artists and Repertoire for Take-Two Interactive's Gathering label, using his industry reputation to attract new talent and franchises to the label he helped start in 1998. Concurrently, he produced his first feature film, the independent documentary Burning Man: Beyond Black Rock, through his company Gone Off Deep Productions, LLC. The documentary was released by Warner Music in summer 2006.

Before founding Gathering, he co-founded and served as CEO of ION Storm, managing the creation and launch of one of the most high-profile game company brands in industry history. He negotiated one of the most lucrative publishing deals ever for the startup team led by industry legend John Romero and expanded the company from 8 to 88 employees during 1997.

He directly managed the launch of the blockbuster Quake series and several titles in the best-selling DOOM franchise.
Wilson entered the game industry in 1995 as Vice President of Development at IVS/DWANGO, the first nationwide online gaming service. In six months, he grew the company from a small 4-person, single-server operation in Houston, TX, to a nationwide franchise operating in 22 markets, securing a foundation for the pioneering service still active today.
