Composer and songwriter known for "Orange-Colored Sky," "Just Another Polka," and "Hoop Dee Doo," as well as an accordionist, pianist, conductor, and author. He studied at UCLA under Tibor Serly. His career began as a staff musician for a Hollywood radio station and various film studios. During World War II, he served in the Radio Production Unit of the United States Army Air Force. He arranged and conducted for the Abe Burrows radio show and later worked on Joseph Levine films and recordings, nightclub revues, and Broadway productions. After joining ASCAP in 1949, he collaborated musically with his wife Anne Delugg, Bob Hilliard, Sammy Gallop, William Stein, and Allan Roberts. His other notable compositions include "Shanghai," "Sailor Boys Have Talk to Me in English," "My Lady Loves to Dance," "Be My Life's Companion," "Wrong Wrong Wrong," "Roller Coaster" (the theme for "What's My Line"), "The Little White Horse," "The Big Beat," "Honolulu," and "Gee I'm Glad I Married You.
