Seto Asaka, born Ieda Megumi in Seto, Aichi Prefecture, took her stage name from her hometown. Discovered by a talent scout during her third year of junior high, locals directed the scout to her home, leading to a house visit. She later relocated to Tokyo. Asaka debuted in 1992 with Wangan Bad Boy Blue, earning a Best New Actress nomination at the Kinema Junpo Awards. Since then, she has appeared in TV series, TV movies, and films. Starting in 1993, she began appearing in commercials for various companies. She released her first music singles in 1995, issuing four singles across 1995 and 1996, along with three albums, the last released in 2002. At the 24th Yokohama Film Festival, she won Best Actress for her role in the 2002 film Travail. In September 2007, she married Inohara Yoshihiko of the boy band V6, held their wedding celebration in 2008, and welcomed a son on March 2, 2010. Their marriage was publicly announced at a press conference. She had a daughter in 2013. In 2008, she received the Sixth Annual Parcassio Beautiful Legs Award in the 30s age group category. Seto launched a clothing brand named Violetta Chione, which was discontinued in 2010 due to lack of success. She is represented by Foster Management and has four photobooks published. On her days off, she enjoys driving, collecting soaps, and shopping with her family. She likes Arrabbiata sauce but dislikes eating cheese on its own.
