Yvette Yates (El Gringo, Without Men) continues to advance her career, joining the cast as LUZ in the Warner Bros. feature INHERENT VICE, directed by multi-Academy Award-nominated Paul Thomas Anderson. The film was released on December 12, 2014, with a nationwide release on January 9, 2015. INHERENT VICE has earned numerous accolades, including two Academy Award nominations (2015), a Golden Globe Best Actor nomination (2015), four Critics Choice nominations (2015), and wins for Best Adapted Screenplay from the National Board of Review and Best Music Score from the Los Angeles Film Critics. Additionally, the director, casting director, and cast received the Robert Altman Award at the 2015 Film Independent Spirit Awards. Yates also stars as Zabeth in the comedy vampire film BLOODSUCKING BASTARDS, alongside Fran Kranz (The Cabin in the Woods), Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones), Joey Kern (Cabin Fever), and Joel Murray (Mad Men), written by the Dr. G-d Comedy Troupe. The film had its world premiere on January 23, 2015, as the opening night feature at the Slamdance Film Festival and was acquired by Shout! Factory. Furthermore, Anchor Bay Films, in association with Twentieth Century Fox, released the action thriller IN THE BLOOD, in which Yates appears as Leta. The film stars MMA fighter-turned-actress Gina Carano (Haywire), Cam Gigandet (Twilight), Danny Trejo (Machete), Stephen Lang (Avatar), Luis Guzmán (How to Make It in America), and Amaury Nolasco (Transformers). IN THE BLOOD, reminiscent of Taken, follows a wife (Carano) who embarks on a relentless search for the men she suspects kidnapped and killed her husband during their Caribbean vacation. Directed by John Stockwell (Into the Blue, Turistas), the screenplay was written by Bennett Yellin and James Robert Johnston.
Notably, Yates played the female lead in the theatrical action film El Gringo, opposite Scott Adkins (The Expendables 2) and Christian Slater, as part of Joel Silver's Castle Home Entertainment and After Dark Films' AFTER DARK ACTION series. The New York Times praised her performance, stating, "were it not for a bartender played with verve by Yvette Yates, her appealing insolence and tasteful love scene provide relief..." Her other credits include the comedy Without Men, starring opposite Eva Longoria, Kate Del Castillo, and Christian Slater. She also appears in Free Ride alongside Academy Award winner Anna Paquin; Water & Power, based on the Mark Taper play; and Sorority Party Massacre. Yvette was honored by the Mayor and City Council of El Paso with a proclamation designating September 26, 2012, as "YVETTE YATES DAY" in recognition of her role as a Community Ambassador. In 2008, she received nominations for Best Actress in Film and Best Short at the 23rd Annual Imagen Awards and Malibu International Film Festival for her role as Lucena in the film Niña Quebrada.
Born in El Paso, Texas, Yates grew up in both El Paso and Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua. She later moved to Los Angeles to attend UCLA, where she earned a B.S. in Physiological Science and was published in the Journal of Molecular Immunology.
Yvette Yates Redick has three children with Shaun Redick: Isabella Redick, Paxton Redick, and Vivienne Redick.
