Production Designer Aidan Leroux entered film and television production design with a B.A. in Philosophy and Literature and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Toronto. He also holds a Graduate Design Diploma from the Architectural Association in London and a Master of Science from Columbia University. His international experience includes living in London, New York, Tokyo, Milan, and Paris.
His debut feature-length project, the Rhombus film Stormy Weather: The Music of Harold Arlen, earned the 2003 Gemini Award for Best Production Design. He won the first Canadian Screen Award for Best Production Design in TV for Bomb Girls (2013) and shared the Directors' Guild of Canada Team Award for Booky and the Secret Santa (2007). Between 2006 and 2012, Aidan received nine DGC nominations in Production Design and Team Achievement, along with a Gemini and a Genie nomination for projects such as Edwin Boyd (2011), Murdoch Mysteries (2010 and 2011), Booky's Crush (2009), and The Robber Bride (2007).
Before working in film and television, Aidan was employed at Daniel Libeskind's Architecture Intermundium in Milan, contributing to The Berlin City Edge installation for the Museum of Modern Art and The Line of Fire project in Geneva, Switzerland.
As an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto, Aidan taught various studio, seminar, and lecture courses. He also served as Co-ordinator for Culture Lab, a multidisciplinary symposium series featuring guests like Atom Egoyan, Peter Lynch, Rem Koolhaas, and Bruce Mau. Additionally, he was the curatorial assistant to Dean Larry Richards for E-12, an interdisciplinary design exhibition that toured Japan and Canada.
