Jonathan Grupper specializes in storytelling—capturing people's lives in real time and transforming them into compelling, high-rated screen entertainment.
He has held roles as Executive Producer, Co-Executive Producer, and Showrunner on successful series for CNN, National Geographic, Investigation Discovery, Oxygen, History Channel, Discovery Channel, PBS, and other major global networks. He has produced, written, and directed dozens of programs.
Grupper is the Executive Producer of several video and audio installations, including projects at the New York Historical Society and the permanent exhibit at the Ellis Island Museum. He has authored six children's books for National Geographic, created six syndicated planetarium shows, produced over 50 episodes of National Geographic Explorer, and contributed multiple episodes to NOVA and Nature. Additionally, he has served as Supervising Writer and Supervising Producer for National Geographic Television.
His work has earned numerous awards, including the Gold Special Jury Award at WorldFest-Houston, Gold at the US International Film & Video Festival, Silver at WorldFest-Flagstaff, a Cine Golden Eagle Award, and a Telly Award. The programs he has worked on have garnered ten Emmy nominations, three of which were for him personally.
Jonathan Grupper teaches Dramatic Screenwriting at NYU's School of Professional Studies.
