Robert is the former on-set acting coach for MTV's Finding Carter and previously served as VP of development at Hazy Mills Productions, contributing to shows like NBC's Grim and TV Land's Hot in Cleveland.
Though largely retired from acting, he recently appeared opposite Tom Hardy in the feature film Venom and Ed Helms in Father Figures. He also had a co-starring role in Devious Maids. Earlier, he acted alongside Hugh Jackman as Roger in the feature film Prisoners, booked two commercials for Pantech phones, and performed in Pinch N' Ouch Theatre Company's production of Speed The Plow.
In Chicago, Robert worked with several prominent theater companies, including the internationally renowned Steppenwolf Theatre Company.
He owns and is the lead instructor at The Robert Mello Studio, the only acting studio in Atlanta offering comprehensive Meisner-based training from an instructor with over 18 years of teaching experience. Students from his studio have appeared in numerous hit TV shows, feature films, Broadway, and off-Broadway productions. Robert has coached recipients and nominees of the Golden Globe Award® and Tony Award®.
Robert is also an active film producer. His film Coffee, Kill Boss, featuring Oscar nominee Robert Forster, Hung series regular Eddie Jemison, and Anger Management star Noureen DeWulf, opened the Austin Film Festival, closed the Soho Film Festival, and won the Grand Jury Award at the Maryland International Film Festival. It also received Best Comedy Feature at the Eugene International Film Festival and earned Best Feature, Best Director, and Best Actress awards at L.A.'s Comedy Ninja Film Festival.
Additionally, in 2012 he produced the SAG short Finale, starring Necessary Roughness series regular Hannah Marks, which premiered at Atlanta's Out On Film Festival and was a favorite at the San Jose International Short Film Festival.
