Sami Harun Tekin is a Turkish singer, musician, and poet, known as a founding member and the lead vocalist of the Turkish rock band Mor ve Ötesi.
In 1988, while studying at the German High School in Istanbul, Harun met Kerem Kabadayi, with whom he later formed his first band.
Harun began his BSc studies at Bogazici University in 1996 and graduated with a philosophy degree in 2001.
After the 1999 earthquake in Turkey, he joined Acik Radio to contribute to the Earthquake Communication Centre.
In September 2008, he appeared on the TV program Kisa Devre on the Turkish channel Habertürk, alongside psychiatrist Cem Mumcu and actress Pelin Batu.
In September 2010, he made his acting debut with appearances in two episodes of the popular Turkish TV series Behzat C. Bir Ankara Polisiyesi.
Tekin has interests in philosophy, politics, and football, and is an avid fan of Radiohead.
As of 2014, he has been in a relationship with actress Melisa Sözen.
In 1990, Tekin and his school friend Kerem Kabadayi formed the band Decision, which included Sahin Yalabik (vocals) and Alper Tekin (bass guitar). When the band shifted to a rock style in 1991, Harun took up the guitar. Derin Esmer later joined on guitar. After Yalabik left, the band transitioned to Turkish lyrics and in 1995 established Mor ve Ötesi ("Violet and Ultra"). Initially, Tekin shared lead vocals with Esmer, but after Esmer's departure in 1999, Tekin became the sole vocalist. He and Burak Güven serve as the main songwriters for the band.
In 2007, he performed the soundtrack for director Veli Çelik's film Kayıp. In 2008, he contributed the song "İstasyon İnsanları" from Teoman's album Söz Müzik Teoman.
