Matt Skollar was born in New York City to Haydee, originally from Panama, and Stan, a New York native with Russian-Jewish roots. From a young age, Matt engaged in acting, dancing, and singing, landing his first professional role at age 10 as a young prince in an eight-week run of "The King and I." His passion for the performing arts grew over time, leading him to pause his higher education to chase his childhood dream. This decision brought him back to New York, where he was accepted into the prestigious New Actors Workshop. Matt studied full-time for two years under renowned instructors like George Morrison, Paul Sills, and the late Mike Nichols. His training, deeply rooted in Stanislavski technique and improvisation, enabled him to quickly demonstrate his skills in several off-Broadway productions, eventually securing a contract with the respected Abrams Artists Agency.
Throughout his career, Matt has guest-starred on numerous primetime shows such as HBO's Sex and the City, NBC's Law and Order SVU and Game of Silence, and CBS's MacGyver. He also held a recurring role on ABC's daytime drama One Life to Live. His film appearances include indie projects like the Oscar-winning Best Picture "The Artist" and "Beast Beast," which premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.
On stage, Matt has performed in a two-man show at the NYC Fringe Festival and participated in productions at the esteemed Williamstown Theater Festival. He later moved from Los Angeles to Atlanta to capitalize on Georgia's rapidly expanding film industry. To further hone his craft, Matt enrolled as an advanced student at Nick Conti's Professional Actors Studio, where his dedication led him to teach and mentor fellow actors. Since relocating to Atlanta, Matt has co-written and co-starred in the award-winning indie TV production "Outside the Perimeter," collaborating with actors Franco Castan and Scott Oakley.
