Colin Francis Costello is a biracial, Emmy-nominated writer and director, as well as a WGA East member, whose work encompasses comedy, horror, family, and superhero genres. A finalist in the Disney General Entertainment Writing Program, Colin is recognized for crafting character-driven stories that blend heart and humor while highlighting underrepresented voices, often focusing on YA, teens, and women.
He wrote and directed the award-winning short film The After Party, along with the well-received genre shorts Dreamwisher and Storage. His latest short, Swipe, which he wrote and produced, recently earned Best Horror Short at the IFS Film Festival.
Colin has also written family feature films including The Stream—an homage to Star Wars starring Rainn Wilson—and Alternate Universe, featuring Steve Guttenberg. He contributed to the PBS Kids series Moochie Kalala Detective's Club, for which he received an Emmy nomination.
Previously an advertising creative director, Colin’s writing has drawn interest from notable figures such as Spike Lee, Michael Bay, Tim Burton, Dr. Maya Angelou, and Disney.
He teaches screenwriting at UCLA Extension, participates on several WGA West committees, and serves as the West Coast Editor for Reel 360 News.
