Born in Brazil, Mayana Neiva is an award-winning actress, producer, and writer. Her first experience with acting occurred during an exchange program in California at age sixteen. Upon returning to Brazil, she starred in the play "Hello Boy," earning multiple nominations for Best Actress for her leading role. In her home state of Paraíba, she founded her first theater ensemble, which was a finalist in the "Theatrical Creation Volkswagen" contest. Later, she moved to São Paulo and joined two avant-garde theater groups: Teatro Oficina, directed by José Celso Martinez Corrêa, and the Centro de Pesquisa Teatral (CPT) led by theater master Antunes Filho. She then established her own theater company, Transfugas, within the historic São Paulo theater collective Grupo XIX de Teatro.
Mayana made her television film debut in "The Stones of the Kingdom," directed by critically acclaimed Luiz Fernando Carvalho, playing two leading female roles, one of which required her to shave her head. Following this, she developed a strong international fan base through television productions such as "Queridos Amigos," "Som e Fúria," "Dalva e Herivelto," "Derci de Verdade," "TiTiTi," "Amor Eterno Amor," "Cordel Encantado," and "Sangue Bom." She has also collaborated with directors Fernando Meirelles, Benjamín Ávila, Dennis Carvalho, Rogério Gomes, Aly Muritiba, and screenwriters Maria Adelaide Amaral, Braulio Tavares, and Marcelo Müller.
In 2016-2017, she played the recurring role of Mariela Fuentes in the HBO series "El Hipnotizador" and starred as Chief of Police Carolina Ramalho in the NBC Universal Channel series "Rotas do Ódio" (Trails of Hate). She also led the cast of the film "Beiço de Estrada." For her role in the TV series "TiTiTi," Mayana won Best New Actress awards at "Melhores do Ano" and "Arte Qualidade Brasil," and received the "Mulher Forte" award from the Brazilian government for her accomplishments.
Mayana has built a successful career in feature films across Latin America, including "O Vendedor de Passados," "Os Normais," "O Tempo que Leva," "The Man Who Killed My Beloved Dead"—which was part of the 2014 San Sebastián Film Festival selection and Argentina's submission for the 2013 Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film—and "Clandestine Childhood," featured in Cannes' Directors' Fortnight. She also won the Best Actress award for her portrayal of Raquel in the film "To My Beloved." Additionally, Mayana authored a children's book titled "Sofia," which tells the story of a little girl who swallowed the sun.
