Paul attended Park View Intermediate and Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena, Texas, before moving to California in 1993 in his early twenties. Upon arriving in Los Angeles, he took a job in Disney's mailroom to cover his expenses. There, he met Jeffrey Katzenberg's assistants, who began involving him in their work, forging a professional connection that would transform his career. When Jeffrey left Disney for DreamWorks, Paul was invited to join him there.
